AUSTIN & HOUSTON TRUSTED ELECTRICIANS
When is the right time to Hire an Austin / Houston Electrician

Handling electricity can be a dangerous thing if you don't know what you're doing, and could lead to an unwanted electrocution.  Whenever you need installations or repairs to your electrical components, it's best to hire a professional electrician and not your cousin Bob. However, some individuals are really good at doing their own wiring projects - they manage to get the light or ceiling fan installed with no problems. But it can be a good idea to have a Austin / Houston electrician to come in to at least inspect any work (especially if permits and official electrical inspections are involved) or do some of the final stages of the project to make sure it is up to current codes and works as intended.Another thing to keep in mind - Cousin Bob may be handy with electricity but not be aware that he are overloading a circuit by adding new fixtures or outlets. When the electrical components are initially installed during construction the circuits are designed to cover existing devices only.  Only after carful circuit probing by an experienced electrician could something be added.  Our Austin / Houston electricians are trained to be able to look at the whole picture of your electrical project.

Important things you should know about finding the right Houston / Austin area electricians

More likely than not, every home or business will need the services of an electrician at some point.  The electricity in which we all depend upon is a necessary part of our everyday lives. Many people are able to take care of the smaller home and business electrical projects, such as replacing light fixtures, installing ceiling fans and perhaps replacing wall receptacles.  This is fine on a small scale, but the fact is any project that involves electricity is best left to a professional Houston electrician.

Merely finding an electrician is easy. But finding a qualified and experienced electrician that fits your needs and is right for your job often requires additional effort.

Where to Find a Good Austin / Houston Area Electrician?
A really good place to start is to ask family, friends, neighbors and even co-workers for possible recommendations. Another good place to go is the internet.  Most search engines have a forum for testimonials from electrical clients.  Read all of the feedback available, as well as go to the company website to gather information necessary to make your decision.  You can find us at www.guaranteedelectricalservices.com

How to Request Your Proposal from the Austin / Houston Area Electrician
Once you have narrowed your Austin / Houston electrician options down and chosen a few to check out, you can then go forward and interview each one and discuss your project with them. Be wary of electricians who want to charge you for just coming out to give you an estimate.  These electricians are trained to extract as much money up front as they can.  This type of sales technique has two parts; the first part is to charge a travel or dispatch fee to cover so called travel expenses, however, they charge each customer $50.00 to $100.00 for each call which by far exceeds their daily expenses.  The 2nd part is that if the electrician can charge enough for the travel or dispatch, and the customer has already accepted and is in too deep or is too intimated to say no to the costly pricing.  A fair and truthful Austin / Houston electrician will not charge for any extra fees except for services rendered.  All electrical estimates or advice should be free from any charges.  Experience is also a key factor when interviewing.  An established Austin / Houston electrician is usually a good option, but you should not exclude new-comers to the area.  Just because an electrician may be new to the community does not necessarily mean they are new to the trade.  You might get lower rates from a newer electrician, as they are working to build customers and quality references. But always make sure any Austin / Houston electrician you are considering hiring has the proper know-how to successfully handle your project.

Spending time with your list of potential Austin / Houston electricians is essential to choosing the right one.  Have each one come for an onsite inspection to see the work to be done, and properly determine the correct course of action.  This is also an excellent time to express any concerns or ideas about what your expectations are, and your timeline for getting the work completed.  These meetings will allow for you to get a good sense of the work ethic, style and communication abilities for each Austin / Houston electrician you are considering.  Do not feel obligated to hire someone just because they came to inspect your project.  If you are not comfortable with him or her this is not the right person for your job.  Keep in mind you are inviting someone into your home or business to work and you must feel at ease and trustful of whomever you hire.  Guaranteed Electrical Services does not charge for travel or dispatch time.  We readily give free advice as well as free estimates.

It is very important to receive an estimated time for the completion of your project, as well as a detailed price.  It is up to you to communicate to each Houston electrician a detailed list of what should be included in the bid. The bid should fully explain the scope of work that will be done, as well as the full cost of all materials and labor. Payment options should be discussed and fully understood and agreed upon before work commences.  In most cases if your project is on the smaller side you will be expected to pay in full upon completion.  Larger more complex jobs may allow for a down payment and/or payment installments to be made.  Just make sure all these details are ironed out ahead of time and included on your written estimate, as well as the agreed upon completion date.

Choosing Your Austin / Houston Area Electrician

There are several steps to go through when making the decision which electrician to use.  Once you have received your written bids or proposals, the first step is to take time to compare them. You might be drawn to go with the lowest bid, but the lowest is not always the best decision. While a low bid can be genuine, one that is too low should alert you to question why.
Saving money is always a good thing, yet one should exercise extreme caution when it comes to your home's electrical system. For the safety of you and your family you will want the best quality service, not necessarily the cheapest.  Safety is not an area to be cutting corners.  Take time to research and ask the
Austin / Houston electrician that submitted the bid why it is so low.  Then review any other bids you received and compare the quality, workmanship, credentials and the timeline, as well as the cost involved. You should choose the Austin/ Houston electrician that appears the most conscientious and dedicated to do the job right the first time.  Your home is your most valuable asset; Guaranteed Electrical Services understands this and will handle your project with integrity and dignity.
